Pastor Rogers is fluent in Spanish and Arabic and functional in Korean, while he “dabbles” in many other languages. His wife Sungmin Cho and daughter Justine are also part of his ministry team and our Sunset Church family.
Pastor Rogers is above all things a people person. He believes that God created and loves the diversity of cultures and languages in the world. He loves being at Sunset because we are a church that embraces people of all cultures, languages and backgrounds! In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, travel to pretty much anywhere, and getting to know new people. Come and meet him next Sunday!
Director of Music
Abel was born in Cuba, and came to the United States at the age of 14. He had the privilege of studying at the prestigious Conservatory of Puerto Rico where he received his Bachelor's degree in Music in 1975. In Portales, New Mexico he obtained a Master's degree in Music. Originally moving to Orlando, his allergies forced him to move to South Florida, much to our benefit! Abel has been playing music at Sunset Presbyterian Church since January of 1984, and became the official Music Director for English and Spanish worship in 2017. He delights worshippers with a mixture of traditional and contemporary music... especially as he plays special music on piano!
